Optimized Pulse Sequences at High Field
1. Introduction The increasing interest in MRI at high magnetic field (i.e. 3T and above) has mainly been driven by neuro-imaging applications. More specifically, the higher sensitivity to detect activations in functional neuro-imaging studies was a main incentive. With the more widespread availability of high field systems many other applications benefit from the main advantage of higher magne...
متن کاملVacuum spin squeezing
We investigate the generation of entanglement (spin squeezing) in an optical-transition atomic clock through the coupling to an optical cavity in its vacuum state. We show that if each atom is prepared in a superposition of the ground state and a long-lived electronic excited state, and viewed as a spin-1/2 system, then the collective vacuum light shift entangles the atoms, resulting in a squee...
متن کاملQuantum spin squeezing
This paper reviews quantum spin squeezing, which characterizes the sensitivity of a state with respect to SU(2) rotations, and is significant for both entanglement detection and high-precision metrology. We first present various definitions of spin squeezing parameters, explain their origin and properties for typical states, and then discuss spinsqueezed states produced with nonlinear twisting ...
متن کاملSpin Squeezing Criterion with Local Unitary Invariance
The non-classical nature of quantum entanglement is a key ingredient in the rapidly developing science of quantum information. One of the important tasks involved is quantifying quantum entanglement, which is essential in assessing the performance of a quantum system in several applications such as quantum teleportation, quantum cryptography, quantum computation and quantum communication There ...
متن کاملKeeping a quantum bit alive by optimized pi-pulse sequences.
A general strategy to maintain the coherence of a quantum bit is proposed. The analytical result is derived rigorously including all memory and backaction effects. It is based on an optimized pi-pulse sequence for dynamic decoupling extending the Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill cycle. The optimized sequence is very efficient, in particular, for strong couplings to the environment.
